Local Schools Celebrate Their White Lion Heritage

Special guests included WLT advisor, MP MJ Mahlangu, Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, who attended the event with his wife, Mrs Christina Mahalangu. MP Mahlangu was instrumental in coordinating an opportunity for last year’s winning White Lion performers to present their “White Lion Madiba” play for Mr Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. Other out-of-town guests included Mr Andile Ncontsa, Head of the Old Mutual Foundation and Ms Lerato Mutaung, Group CSI Manager for Murray and Roberts.

A special thanks to Old Mutual who donated R5 000.00 to each school in acknowledgement of this eco-educational program. Other dignitaries from the region included Hosi P.P. Mnisi; Mrs Precilla Mnisi; Mr Dyke Minisi, wife of Maruleng Mayor, Mrs Violet Mafago and Educational Inspector, Mr H.M Mapayila.

Our eco-educational program attracts more schools each year. It is encouraging to see the energy educators put into environmental education and the enthusiasm with which learners embrace it. In this way the conservation of the White Lions and the preservation of community culture go hand in hand.
